Upon consulting with farmers in the Xaythany district, we found issues with the overuse of chemical fertilizers, insufficient application of organic fertilizers, and nutrient imbalances in the soil. These problems lead to decreased agricultural yields, higher production costs, and increased reliance on imports. Furthermore, soil degradation contaminates water sources, impacting the ecosystem. When agricultural land becomes unproductive, it causes people to migrate out of rural areas, and the reduced capacity of the soil to store carbon can lead to greenhouse gas emissions and severe climate change.
